North Attleborough was originally part of Attleboro, Massachusetts. Realizing the section of town now known as North Attleborough had a higher population, residents decided to break away. When incorporated, North Attleborough went back to the traditional spelling and now includes one village, North Attleborough Center.

In 2006, North Attleborough was rated in the top ten communities for professional sports in the entire country and was praised for its affordability and safety.
