Home to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and the National Marine Life Center, the Cape Cod village of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts was once Wampanoag Indian territory before being settled by Europeans in 1621.

Buzzards Bay is located within the Bourne town lines and was the site of a 98,000-gallon oil spill in 2003. Buzzards Bay’s National Marine Life Center rehabilitates and releases injured porpoises, sea turtles, dolphins, seals, and small whales.
