A large part of the landmass in Hampden is made up of parks and conservation areas. Hampden Memorial Recreational Park, Laughing Brook Wildlife Sanctuary and Minnechaug Mountain are all within Hampden town limits. There are two villages within Hampden; Center Hampden and the West Side of Hampden. Center Hampden holds the town hall, fire department and police station. The West Side contains local businesses and restaurants.
