With a focus on science literacy and environmental stewardship, New Bedford’s Ocean Explorium is a hot bed of ocean science education geared towards people of all ages. With suce fascinating exhibits as Science on a Sphere, Explorer’s Zone, Discovery Bay, and both living and non-living exhibits, Ocean Explorium guarantees a full day of marine science discovery. The Explorium is available to rent for private parties, birthday parties, weddings and other events, and hosts many school field trips, explorers in residence, outreach programs and professional development programs.
Ocean Explorium offers such great events as the Octopus Workshop, Young Ocean Explorers, lectures from the Global Voice series, and daily Feed the Fish and Coral Farming activities for the wee ones. Living exhibits include a marine nursery with baby sharks, jellyfish and seahorses, teh Living Ocean aquatic habitats featuring coral, anemone, jellyfish and native New England fish, and the touch tanks where you can pet Bamboo Sharks and a couple different species of Rays.
