Located in Boston’s North Shore, Gloucester, Massachusetts rests on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. The city of Gloucester is divided into neighborhoods; Annisquam, Bay View, Lanesville, Folly Cove, Magnolia, Riverdale, East Gloucester, and West Gloucester. Gloucester is the setting for Sebastian Junger’s book, ‘The Perfect Storm’, and is also the site of much of the filming for the movie of the same name. Over the course of Gloucester’s 350-year history, 10,000 of its residents have been lost at sea. The deaths are commemorated in front of City Hall. Seafaring is the basis of Gloucester’s economy.
