Lee, MA Map

The Berkshires community of Lee, Massachusetts is located 12 miles from Pittsfield and 42 miles from Springfield. The town of Lee lies in the valley of the Housatonic River and is surrounded by parts of the Taconic Mountain Range. Lee is comprised of two different villages, South Lee and East Lee. In the mid-1800’s, Lee was quarrying with some of the hardest and finest marble in the world. The marble was shipped everywhere and it quickly became world-renowned.  Around the same time, Lee was one of the largest paper producers in the world. Smith Paper Company was running smoothly until the forests in the area became depleted.

Today, Lee is economically based in the Lee Outlet Malls, and Holiday Inn Club Vacations Oak n’ Spruce Resort, located in South Lee – which attracts many tourists.
