Concord, Massachusetts is a town rich in American history. The first Revolutionary War battle was fought in Concord on the Old North Bridge. The bridge was recently reconstructed to look very much like the original and can be visited today.

Concord was home to some very famous people including Henry David Thoreau, author, and philosopher. Today Thoreau’s birthplace, Thoreau Farm, can be visited in Concord. Concord is also home to the famous Walden Pond, where Thoreau wrote his book, ‘Walden’. Acclaimed novelist Louisa May Alcott also lived in Concord. Orchard House, where Alcott grew up, was the basis for her novel, ‘Little Women’. Like Thoreau Farm, Orchard House can still be visited today.

Concord’s Wayside House is part of the Minute Man National Historical Park. Like Orchard House, it was once the home of Louisa May Alcott, before later becoming the home of Nathaniel Hawthorne, author of ‘The Scarlet Letter. This historic home can still be visited today.

Concord grapes were invented in Concord, MA. Believe it or not, Ephraim Bull moved to Concord and decided to breed a type of grape that could grow in cold climates. Within a few years, he perfected his process and created the large, sweet variety loved by many today.
