Chelsea, MA Business Real Estate Lodging HistoryChelsea, MA Map

The city of Chelsea, Massachusetts is located just across the Mystic River from Boston. Historically, Chelsea’s economy thrived from the production of rubber, boots, shoes, stoves, and adhesives. However, in 1908 half the city was destroyed by fire. Chelsea would have the same bad luck again in 1973 when another fire burned 18 city blocks. The Bellingham-Cary House, built in 1659, successfully survived both fires. It has long been a landmark in Chelsea and is open for tours.
