Hawley, Massachusetts is extremely rural and the second least populated town in Franklin County. There are no gas stations or convenience stores within Hawley’s town limits. Most of the town’s residents commute elsewhere for work because there is very little industry within Hawley itself. Hawley rests between the Berkshire Mountains and the Deerfield River Valley, with the Chickley River and several other small brooks flowing through it.
